When Eva's film star sister Katrina dies, she leaves California and returns to Cornwall, where they spent their childhood summers, to scatter Katrina's ashes and in doing so return her to the place where she belongs. But Eva must also confront the ghosts from her own past, as well as those from a time long before her own. For the house where she so often stayed as a child is home not only to her old friends the Halletts, but also to the people who had lived there in the eighteenth century. When Eva finally accepts that she is able to slip between centuries and see and talk to the inhabitants from hundreds of years ago, she soon finds herself falling for Daniel Butler, a man who lived - and died - long before she herself was born. Eva begins to question her place in the present, and in laying her sister to rest, comes to realise that she too must decide where she really belongs, choosing between the life she knows and the past she feels so drawn towards. When Eva's film star sister Katrina dies, she leaves California and returns to Cornwall, where they spent their childhood summers, to scatter Katrina's ashes and in doing so return her to the place where she belongs. Trelowart was a place where both Eva and Katrina spent their summer's childhood. Eva wanted her sister to rest where she thought she were happy and belong. In doing so, Eva will soon confront ghost from the past and find out that she maybe belong to this past.As Eva settles in and starts picking up the threads of her life, she suddenly found herself thrown back in the past in Trelowarth. At first she thought she was hallucinating and she had to go through these weird visions to overcome the pain, the suffering she felt from Katrina's death. But, it turns out that, she had to go back and forth - she had to deal with two lives, one in the present, and another one in the past. Besides, the past was not a simple past -Daniel Butler lives in the past!Eva's beliefs are shaken and she starts to question her life - where she truly belongs. This is essentially a story about love and friendship made complicated by the time.I am not a big fan of travel time books. But, I really loved this one. The story moves back and forth smoothly in time. The reader is taken back in the past trough Eva. The way Eva is described in the book is really appealing. She could be any of us, she really sounds true to me. The book is well written and worth definitely to be read. It may sound overly romantic for some people, though, but it works for me.Susana brought me back in the word I did not even suspect. I truly recommend this book.
